The holiday season is coming into view and we are progressing upwards at Distinction Condominiums. Concrete and steel are now being delivered daily and we are close to finishing off the base of the structure
(slab on grade.)
This month we will see the completion of slab on grade. This will finalize the base of the structure. From here on no more stone will be utilized and will be replaced exclusively with steel and concrete deliveries on the daily. Waterproofing will continue up the perimeter walls and will be followed up with steel reinforcement bar, followed by a wall form, then the concrete is poured to complete the exterior wall. Interior walls and columns are also formed in this way, without the external waterproofing and utilizing multiple forms to allow for three dimensional columns to be completed in the interior of the underground parking areas.
As we continue moving forward you will observe a repeating pattern, level by level, as we rise out of the hole and onto ground floor where residential elements begin to take shape. You will see columns and walls (interior and exterior,) rise from the lower slab. They will be formed and poured, then the forms are removed revealing the finalized column or wall. The forming contractor is then able to form the slab above this section of walls and columns.
At distinction we are pouring currently in three slab pours per finished floor. You will see this procedure repeat three times per level. Columns and walls are poured on the finished slab, then the slab above can be formed and poured. This will happen over and over until all of the underground parking elements and base of the building is formed. While the majority of this area is parking there is also building storage, air shafts, mechanical rooms and electrical rooms that make up the entirety of subterranean area of the condominium.
As we continue on there will be daily concrete pours. As well reinforcement steel will be delivered multiple times a week. As always, we always attempt to mitigate any inconvenience to the neighbourhood at large. Trucks are not staging in the immediate area and we have worked closely with city staff and local community members to ensure that we do our best to avoid any issues while we work through this crucial stage of the development.
