Distinction Condominium – June Community Update

June 15, 2018

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to LASH Construction’s Community Portal. Here you will find monthly updates on the progress of our Distinction residential condominium project located at 11 Lillian St. (the corner of Lillian and Soudan.) Our goal is to provide the community with an interactive space where we provide updates on our progress, as well as the ability to contact the developer with questions or concerns relating to the project. Please always remember if a situation is observed that is an actual emergency please contact 911.

Summer is finally upon us! The sun is shining and the ice and snow is but a memory. On the corner of Lillian and Soudan things are really starting move along. The first course of soil has been excavated and the East and South walls have been reinforced with lagging. The north and west caisson (concrete,) walls have been shaved back to allow for the drilling of the tieback system. This exposure of the first level underground is also allowing us to initiate our dewatering system.

As of this week all our preliminary engineering tests were completed and the tieback drill has been re-mobilised to begin the process of securing the excavation. This process occurs so that we can safely move on to further depths and removal of soil safely and securely. As we are going four storeys down, this process repeats itself that many times. Four. First step is the excavation of soil, then comes the installation of lagging and shaving of caisson walls. We then re-mobilize the tieback drill and install all necessary tiebacks to allow us to move on lower to the next level.
Moving into the summer you will see us get further and further down to our ultimate goal of a four-storey pit. This will then lead into the start of significant concrete work as we build back up and out of the excavation.

As per our previous updates and community meetings/discussions with the Councillors office /City of Toronto staff it is our goal not to cause any unnecessary disturbance to the residents of the area. As we move forward with the project if you have a question, or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at LASH.
